Demolition of Carlton Bingo Hall, Inverness
Client: Ogilvie Construction Ltd
Project: Premier Inn Hotel Development
Division: Demolition and Dismantling
Wm Munro Construction (Highland) Ltd were competitively selected by Ogilvie Construction to undertake the asbestos removal and the controlled demolition of the former Carlton Bingo Hall, Huntly Street, Inverness.
The former bingo hall had stood empty for several years and was in a poor state of repair, the building was located directly on the public highway ‘Huntly Street’, within 10m of the River Ness. Live neighbouring buildings were located at 1.0m and 3.0m.
The building was of masonry construction, with a pitched asbestos cement roof supported on a steel structure. The facade of the building was a more attractive ‘Art Deco’ structure with rendered masonry and a flat concrete roof.
Munro’s were selected due to a proven track record in safely removing similar city centre structures. Works were completed on schedule and budget all to the satisfaction of our client.
